Introduction. The pre-analytical phase is the beginning of laboratory testing and therefore has technical standards to provide quality samples for processing. However, an error in this phase for glycated hemoglobin does not provide a reliable analysis of the average basal glucose. Objective. To describe the actions applied with the aim of reducing errors in the pre-analytical phase for the determination of glycated hemoglobin in the screening of patients with prediagnosis, or diagnosis of diabetes mellitus, in a health center in Lima, during the period from January to May 2023. Description of the work. A work of professional sufficiency was carried out based on the scientific evidence of the last few years. According to what was collected, it was proved that pre-analytical tests should have preventive actions to reduce errors, which include the use of barcodes, eventuality registry and staff training. Conclusions. Performing an adequate pre-analytical phase of glycated hemoglobin allows guaranteeing part of the results reports, so it is necessary to provide training to the personnel, register considerable circumstances and implement the use of digital tools.
