Introduction: In recent years, there has been an increase in the use of breast implants. Although the evidence supports that it does not increase the risk of contracting breast cancer, the lack of an adequate protocol for performing mammographic examinations could mean that these images do not show suspicious lesions. Objectives: Describe the technical considerations to implement a standardized protocol based on the Eklund technique in a radiological examination of patients with breast implants to obtain an image of adequate quality in a level III health entity in Lima-Peru 2022. Description of Work: The application of the protocol following the image quality criteria dictated by the “European Community”, said protocol is composed of 5 parts. The first two are the indications before and during the radiological examination. The last three are related to patient positioning, breast compression, and exposure factors. Conclusion: The implemented protocol allowed giving the correct instructions to the patients, avoiding the use of aerosols with metallic microparticles, adequate breathing, correct compression and good positioning of the patient; Exposure factors that favor a mammographic image of high diagnostic quality and the early detection of breast cancer.
