Worldwide, incidents in the workplace caused the death of 1.9 million employees in 2016, accidents of local origin were responsible for 360,000 deaths, representing 19% of total deaths. These figures have a high negative impact on labor productivity and family economic income. (1). To improve this reality, labor policies indicate that the employer must guarantee an adequate workplace, where improvements are provided that protect the well-being, health and life of its workers. Based on this premise, the current Peruvian law on safety and health in the workplace was implemented. Compliance with standards aims to identify and mitigate all types of risks that may be harmful to workers in the exercise of their occupations. (2) To prevent local risks and protect the health of workers, it is important to have an adequate research collection process to identify health conditions related to the work environment and local hazards, through occupational medical evaluations. The monitoring of the health of workers (occupational medical surveillance) contains occupational clinical examinations, within which there is no uniformity regarding the medical requirements for workers exposed to occupational risks, only some evaluations are carried out, corresponding to standards for activities. critical (work at structural height, confined spaces, mobile equipment operators, among others) The prevention of local occupational risks should be an important issue for institutional decisions. To achieve this goal, all organizations must adopt accident prevention strategies. It is the responsibility of each worker to respect it and of management to ensure its compliance and provide the necessary resources for this purpose. Currently, many institutions and companies lack an updated plan for monitoring hazards, causing poor management of preventive tasks, lack of clarity of actions and encouraging non-compliance with assigned measures. (3) In this sense, safety standards for the prevention of local risks become vital in any company and institution. In fact, the current dissertation attempts to prepare a clear and concise review of the process of occupational medical examinations that allows the mitigation and control of locative risks.
