Background: Outpatient laparoscopic cholecystectomy with spinal anesthesia is an alternative for the surgical treatment of gallbladder pathologies. It was performed during the COVID-19 pandemic because it does not use endotracheal intubation for airway management; therefore, the risk of contagion due to aerosol dispersion in the operating room decreased. In the same way, given that the post-surgical recovery was faster, allowed the patient to return home the same day after surgery. Objective: Describe the epidemiological and surgical characteristics of adult patients undergoing outpatient laparoscopic cholecystectomy with spinal anesthesia in an outpatient surgery center in Peru during the years 2020 to 2023. Methodology: Observational, descriptive and retrospective study; case series type. The information obtained from the medical records was stored in a database and analyzed with descriptive statistics. Results: Of the 60 patients, 73.33% were female, average age 50.47 years, 51.57% were eutrophic and 46.67% had a history of previous surgery. The 88.33% had chronic stone cholecystitis as the surgical indication. The average operative time was 68.58 minutes. In 1.67% required conversion to open surgery and general anesthesia. The average recovery time was 6 hours and 56 minutes. Around 8.33% presented postoperative complications, all classified as grade I according to the Clavien-Dindo classification. There was no readmission or mortality. Conclusion: The epidemiological and surgical characteristics of patients undergoing outpatient laparoscopic cholecystectomy with spinal anesthesia in the present study are similar to those found in national and international studies.
