Introduction: This study outlines the challenge of immobilisation during chest radiographic studies in paediatric patients. This issue leads to a high rate of rejection of radiographic images and overexposure to radiation. Therefore, it proposes the creation of a guide containing effective immobilisation methods for paediatric patients. This guide serves as a tool to minimise rejected images, prevent overexposure to both the paediatric patient and the guardian, and enhance care by reducing the patient's negative experience. Objectives: To outline the necessary considerations a procedure guide must have for the immobilisation of paediatric patients in obtaining chest radiographs at two private medical centres in Lima, Peru during the period of July-August 2023. Description of Work: The procedure guide arises from our professional experience underpinned by scientific evidence to address the challenge of immobilising paediatric patients during chest radiographic examinations. The implemented methods were as follows: simple explanation about the examination, patient distraction, restraint by the guardian, movement restriction with accessories, and induction to sleep. Conclusion: The necessary considerations for the immobilisation of paediatric patients in obtaining chest radiographs contributed to minimising the repetition of images and reducing the care time for patients. Finally, effective application of the guide requires assertive communication, the collaboration of guardians, and specialised attention to the patient.
