The SARS-CoV-2 respiratory virus spread rapidly around the world, causing millions of people. This sparked the interest of scientists who have made this the most studied virus of the last decade. Despite growing clinical experience and numerous investigations surrounding SARS-CoV-2, the relationship between the symptomatology associated with a positive diagnosis remains not fully understood, specifically during the months following the outbreak. Therefore, we propose to determine the degree of association between the symptoms present during sample collection for diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection and the positivity of the diagnosis by RT-qPCR, in two third-level hospitals in Lima, throughout the second wave of the pandemic. To achieve this, we will carry out an observational, cross-sectional analytical study, based on a secondary analysis of data on the symptoms recorded in a clinical validation study of a low-cost molecular test from saliva. With the results obtained, we will document the course of the pandemic during the first months from an epidemiological perspective.
