Background: Various studies show low knowledge on exclusive breastfeeding. According to ENDES, in Peru only 64% of infants under 6 months of age receive exclusive breastfeeding, which could result in growth and development problems for the child. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of an educational intervention on knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding in primiparous mothers of children under 6 months of age in the context of COVID-19 in a National Hospital, 2022. Material and methods: Study with quantitative approach and pre-experimental design. The statistical sample consisted of 43 mothers who met the selection criteria. For data collection, the survey was used as a technique; and as an instrument, a validated questionnaire of 23 questions. This was applied before and after the educational session, through a pre-test and a post-test respectively. Results: The mothers' level of knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding before the intervention was regular (88.4%), and after the educational intervention it became good (90.7%). The average score before the educational intervention was 12.42 points, increasing after the intervention to 20.33 points. The difference found was statistically significant and was calculated through the T students parametric test (p=0.000). Conclusion: The educational intervention was effective in improving knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding of primiparous mothers.
