Introduction: Migraine and sleep disorders are common diseases in medical students. Objective: Determine the relationship between sleep quality and excessive daytime sleepiness with migraine in medical students at a Peruvian university. Materials and methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional and exploratory study was carried out. Medical students from all years of study at UPCH were included, and students who consumed psychoactive medications and had recent neurological or neurosurgical illnesses were excluded. The validated questionnaires were used, Alcoi-95 for migraine diagnosis, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, the Epworth Daytime Sleepiness Scale and the Migraine Associated Disability Scale. Descriptive statistical analyzes was performed. Results: 373 students were surveyed, of which 336 were selected. 19.9% (67/336) were migraineurs, 11% (37/336) without aura and 8.9% (30/336) with aura. 24.1% (81/336) were poor sleepers and 27.7% (93/336) presented daytime sleepiness. It was found that there is a statistically significant association between migraine, excessive daytime sleepiness and poor sleep quality. Conclusion: Migraine is directly related to sleep disorders in medical students.
