The formed elements of blood constitute the three blood lines coming from the precursors of leukocytes, erythrocytes and thrombocytes. There are multiple occupational or work-related diseases that are triggered after exposure to different chemical and physical compounds during a work day, or more frequently, during a prolonged period of time of work exposure. Work-related diseases of the hematopoietic system can initially be distinguished in occupational medical evaluations and controls. However, after exposure to a known toxic compound, we can easily reach a timely diagnosis based on the signs, symptoms, and ancillary tests taken of the worker during the evaluation. The purpose of this work was to establish the diagnostic criteria of the main diseases of the hematopoietic system associated with work, making known the lists of them according to the ILO, some countries and Peru. Additionally, these diseases were described, exposing their epidemiology, culprit agents and occupational risk factors; The pathophysiology and established diagnostic criteria were mentioned. Then a review of the treatment and the behaviors to be followed was carried out, as well as the promotion and prevention measures of said diseases. Finally, it was concluded that, unlike other work-related diseases, diseases of the hematopoietic system are much less frequent and less acute than those of other devices and systems of the human body. However, despite its apparent benign course, there are some cases where the presence of these pathologies secondary to exposure to toxic chemical or physical substances can greatly increase the risk of a blood neoplasm such as leukemia. For this reason, annual screenings and special emphasis on occupational hygiene are recommended, as well as ongoing training for exposed workers in their work environment.
