Background: In resource-poor countries, tuberculosis (TB) and HIV infection are common. The lack of access to control programs for these diseases could have generated a more serious clinical picture with more complications. Objective: Clinical-demographic characteristics of HIV-positive patients with suspected TB during the COVID-19 pandemic were described. Materials and methods: A retrospective observational descriptive study of secondary data was carried out. The sample included patients from health facilities and 3 reference hospitals in Lima. Data were collected in a Microsoft Excel database and analyzed using STATA 17. Results: 124 patients with HIV infection and suspected TB were registered, with a mean age of 35.7 years and male predominance (78.2%). 17.7% had a diagnosis of TB. The most frequent symptoms were cough and expectoration. 60% of HIV infection cases used HAART; 48.3% of patients were in the AIDS stage. The Gene-Xpert® test detected 100% of cases. Conclusions: During the COVID-19 pandemic, a 17.7% positivity of TB cases was found in patients with HIV infection. 60% of patients reported the use of antiretroviral therapy, and only 27.2% HIV-TB reported antiretroviral treatment. Cough and expectoration were common symptoms among patients with HIV infection and suspected TB. Fever > 2 weeks and presence of TB contact > 2 weeks were significant characteristics in patients with HIV-TB coinfection.
