Introduction: Central nervous system (CNS) tumors are the second most common neoplasm in childhood. According to the Cancer Registry of Metropolitan Lima 2013-2015, the incidence was 39,6 cases per 100 000 inhabitants in the population aged 0 to 19 years. Objective: To determine the epidemiological and histopathological profile of CNS tumors in children and adolescents aged 0 to 18 years at a national referral oncology center during the period 2009-2019. Materials and Methods: A case series constituting a descriptive observational study of retrospective longitudinal design. Patients aged 0-18 years with a diagnosis of malignant CNS tumor treated during the period 2009 to 2019 were included. Results: Lima predominated as the most common birthplace (43,1%; 319/739). The male-to-female ratio was 3 to 2, with the highest population concentration in the 5 to 9 years age group, and the most frequent location was infratentorial (54,1%; 400/739). The most common etiologies were medulloblastomas 27,7% (205/739), ependymomas 11,7% (87/739), pilocytic astrocytomas 8,6% (64/739), and sarcomas 7,3% (54/739), with medulloblastomas being the most common tumor regardless of age group. Overall survival (OS) at 5 years was 50,4%, while event-free survival (EFS) was 43,9%. Conclusions: There was a higher male population; the most common age group was 5 to 9 years; and the most frequent tumor location was infratentorial. The predominant etiology was medulloblastoma. The 5-year OS and EFS were 50,4% and 43,9%, respectively.
