The objective of the research carried out was to determine the relationship between burnout and job performance in teachers from private universities in Metropolitan Lima. The present study had a quantitative approach, correlational level and non-experimental design, the sample consisted of 80 teachers. Two instruments whose content validity was approved by expert judgment were applied; In addition, the reliability analysis was carried out with a Cronbach's Alpha index of 0.70 (burnout) and 0.905 (teaching performance). The results indicate a cubic correlation was found in all dimensions of burnout with teacher performance: emotional exhaustion r (80) =0.3358; depersonalization r (80) =0.3312; lack of customization r (246) =0.3291. Finally, a cubic, quadratic and power correlation was found respectively in the socio-economic and labor variables: female gender r (80) =0.4934; marital status single r (80) =0.4427 and business school r (80) =0.445. The implication of this study will allow us to have greater knowledge and awareness of the importance of the relationship in both variables, since it is demonstrated that when burnout increases, performance is distributed in a cubic way; Stress levels are related to performance, since to a certain extent stress improves performance, but when a limit is exceeded and burnout is reached, performance decreases, which will undoubtedly harm teaching work.
