Background: There are various methods to estimate age in children and adolescents, the Demirjian method is the most used worldwide. Willems method modifies Demirjian’s table of estimation values and makes it more practical. Objective: Determine the precision of the age estimation of the Willems and Demirjian methods in patients who attended the Dental Teaching Center (DTC) of the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, Lima-Perú, 2021-2022. Material and methods: Analytical, crosssectional, observational and retrospective study. The sample consists of all panoramic X-ray of children and adolescents which were taken by the Radiographic Service of the DTC of the UPCH, Lima-Perú, 2021-2022. Results: The sample was 554 participants made up of 296 boys (53,43%) and 258 girls (46,57%) between 4 and 15 years old. In the evaluation applied with the Demirjian method, statistically significant differences were obtained in more than half of the male age groups and just under half of the female participants (p<0,005). Participants with the Willems method did not present statically significant differences between chronological and dental age. Conclusion: The Willems method demonstrated greater effectiveness in estimating age in all groups evaluated in digital panoramic radiographs of children from 4 years to 15 years who attended the DTC of the UPCH, Lima-Perú, 2021-2022.
