In companies whose products are obtained from poultry farming, health is one of the most important aspects, since it constitutes a critical element that has an impact on the company's activities, public health and food safety. In this context, it is strategic for a poultry company to have a laboratory that allows it to quickly and timely address its laboratory analysis needs; reduce results delivery times, allowing both better decision-making and the optimization of resources and guaranteeing the confidentiality of the company's information. This work was developed in a leading poultry company of the sector, in the area of Research & Development of New Businesses. For the implementation of the laboratory, meetings were held with the Health Area to gather information and evaluate their analysis needs (type and number of samples, types of microbiological and molecular biology analyses) and the main characteristics of the service requested from external laboratories. With this information, the space, equipment, reagents, culture media and other materials required for the implementation of the laboratory were identified, its operation model was designed, evaluated and validated, as well as its cost-benefit. My training as a biologist allowed me to address the technical part of the project by identifying the resources required for the implementation and operation of the laboratory, as well as its operation (times for delivery of results, supply of materials, maintenance of equipment and the logistics of transporting samples).
