The re-education process of men prosecuted for committing violence against their female partners is a constant challenge for psychotherapists who work in the Institutional Care Centers (CAI) of the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations (MIMP). Therefore, this research sought to explore the perceptions of CAI psychotherapists regarding their work of re-education of prosecuted male aggressors. This qualitative study conducted eight interviews with professionals in the re-education area of the CAIs of Lima, Callao, Ayacucho and Cusco. It was concluded that psychotherapists positively value the learning obtained in the CAI to work with men and masculinities, personal changes and in their couple or family relationships, as well as self-care strategies and virtual adaptation of work with aggressors as a result of the pandemic. However, reference is made to challenges such as excessive workload, adaptation to virtuality during the pandemic, the emotional burden generated in some cases and the need to update knowledge. Likewise, the interviews revealed two findings: one is related to the rejection and difficulties that female psychotherapists face when working with prosecuted male aggressors, who distrust their work due to the fact that they are women. The other finding highlights the challenges in the Comprehensive Care Centers (CAI) of Ayacucho and Cusco when incorporating the intercultural approach in working with aggressors. In particular, in the CAI of Ayacucho, emphasis was placed on the complexity of addressing aggressors who were affected by political violence-terrorism.
