Objective: Determine the factors associated with prediabetes and diabetes in contacts of patients with susceptible tuberculosis. Material and methods: A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out in 3 health centers in the district of San Juan de Lurigancho. 135 household contacts of susceptible tuberculosis patients participated, selected through non-random sampling by saturation, who underwent fasting capillary blood glucose and application of the Findrisk test. It is an instrument to detect the risk of developing DM and was validated in 2018 in a study carried out in a National hospital by Dr. Barzola. The information was recorded in a database in the STATA program ver.15 and was analyzed using a Poisson regression model with robust variance to determine the factors associated with pre-DM and DM in household contacts. Results: In total 135 household contacts completed the evaluation: 18.5% presented pre-DM. After adjusting the variables age and BMI, It was identified that they were associated with pre-DM; age 45 to 54 years with PR 5.40 (95% CI 1.45-20.14) and BMI 25-29.9 kg/m2 PR 3.07 (95% CI 1.25-7.53), ≥ 30 kg/m2 PR 5.70 (95% CI 2.16-15.0). According to FINDRISK, 68% of household contacts of patients with susceptible TB are at high risk of developing diabetes in the next 10 years. The prevalence of overweight was 45.2%, obesity 10.4% and hypertension 8.1% in household contacts. Conclusions: Household contacts had age and BMI as associated factors.
