Background: During pregnancy, maternal nutritional status impacts intrauterine development; therefore, it is important to explore the association between anthropometric variables of mother and full-term newborns (FTN). Objective: To evaluate if there is a relationship between the anthropometric and laboratory measurements of pregnant women during the third trimester and those of FTN in a I-4 health center Lima, Peru. Determine frequencies of altered body mass index (BMI), anemia, and FTN small and large for gestational age. Materials and Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study. The variables from the medical records of pregnant and FTN during the period august 2021 - august 2022. Results: Of the 295 pregnant women, the median age was 28 years; 78% have low economic status, 57.28% inadequate weight and 21.36%, anemia. Of the neonates, 51%, 98.6% and 97.29% had adequate weight, length and head circumference, respectively. A statistically significant association was found between the neonatal weight: socioeconomic level (p=<0.01), pregestational BMI (p=0.022), weight gain during pregnancy (p=<0.01) uterine height (p=<0.01) and neonatal glucose (p=<0.003). There is no relationship between neonatal height and head circumference with maternal anthropometric measurements. Conclusions: pregestational anthropometric characteristics, such as overweight and obesity, and inadequate weight gain during pregnancy are associated with anthropometric changes in FTN. Close surveillance of pregnant women with these alterations is recommended to reduce them in their FTN.
