Objective: To evaluate the torque and stress of the periodontal ligament according to the crown root angle of the upper central incisor and vertical positioning of the lingual brackets Material and methods: The FEM was used to model the upper right central incisor, periodontal ligament, alveolar bone, cortical bone and STB brand lingual brackets. Three mathematical models of incisors with crown root angle of 160 °, 170 °, 180 °, and lingual bracket (STB) positioning at the incisal, medium and cervical levels were generated. Ansys 18.2 software was used to analyze the displacement and stress distribution of the periodontal ligament. Results: The highest torque was found in the incisor with 180 ° crown root angle and lingual bracket positioning at the incisal level; mean while, the incisor with a 160 ° crown root angle and lingual bracket position towards the incisal generated greater stress in the periodontal ligament. The positioning of the lingual bracket at the cervical level generates less stress of the periodontal ligament, in the incisors with a crown root angle difference Conclusion: The variation of vertical positioning of lingual brackets and the variation of the crown root angle affects the torque and stress of the periodontal ligament.
