Introduction: Within the national context, childhood anemia is a problem of public interest in the health sector. It manifests itself from a deficiency of iron in the blood, most frequently affecting infants under 3 years of age. Objective: Determine the effectiveness of an educational program in the knowledge of iron-rich dishes of mothers of children aged 6-36 months who belong to the Glass of Milk Program. Material and methods: A quantitative approach and a pre-experimental design were used. The sample consisted of 35 mothers registered in the Glass of Milk Program at Collection Center No. 055, located in the district of Carabayllo. The program consisted of 4 sessions, in which key aspects were addressed, such as the relevance of iron and its fundamental role in the prevention of anemia, its properties and knowledge in the preparation of dishes rich in it. To evaluate knowledge, an evaluation instrument was designed that consisted of a total of 28 questions, divided into 3 dimensions. Results: Before the educational program, a prevalence of low levels was found in the sample, represented by 25.7%, moving to a resounding 74.3% with a high level. Likewise, significant differences were found with respect to the scores corresponding to the pre- and post-test applications (p<.05), presenting a large magnitude of the phenomenon (d= 2.72). Conclusion: The educational program demonstrated to have a positive impact by increasing knowledge of iron-rich dishes in the participants.
