The objective of this study was to determine the frequency of gastrointestinal parasites of the four species of primates that live in the Isla de los Monos rescue center (Lagothrix lagotricha, Ateles belzebuth, Pithecia sp., Callicebus sp.) through an analysis of the samples feces processed in the Laboratory of Animal Parasitology-UPCH. We worked with data from the primates and analyzed the fecal samples previously taken in a sanitary control by veterinarians from Isla de los Monos; with the scientific name and identification of each animal and processed in the Animal Parasitology Laboratory. The results showed a frequency of 33.00% (positive/total amount) with respect to the total population of primates. Lagothrix lagotricha was the species with the highest number of parasites found with a value of 22.00% (positive/total number). It was determined that factors such as age and sex do not influence the presence of gastrointestinal parasites in primates from the Isla de los Monos. Gastrointestinal parasitosis is one of the most common diseases in primates and has acquired great importance due to its negative impact on public health.
