During the last few years, the number of cases of cervical cancer has increased, despite the existence of the vaccine against the main causal agent, the human papilloma virus. This is attributed to the misinformation of the parents of the girls for whom the vaccine is intended. Likewise, there are few studies on educational interventions on knowledge about the HPV vaccine in parents of private educational institutions. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of an educational intervention on knowledge about the human papillomavirus vaccine in parents of a private educational institution, in a virtual environment. Materials and methods: The study had a quantitative approach, pre-experimental, longitudinal, prospective design, with pretest and post-test measurements. The population consisted of 81 parents of first and second year high school students of a private educational institution. The survey was used as a technique and a 26-question questionnaire by the author Babilonia López was used as an instrument, with a reliability of 0.92 by Cronbach's Alpha. The statistical test used for the analysis of the level of knowledge was the Mc Nemar test. Results: Before the educational intervention, 70% of the parents had a low/medium level of knowledge. After the educational intervention, high knowledge level predominated in 85%. A p=0.000 was obtained. Conclusion: The educational intervention was effective in increasing the level of knowledge about the human papillomavirus vaccine.
