Background: Chest radiography has become one of the main tools for the diagnosis and monitoring of COVID-19 disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. Critically ill patients located in the hospitalization service (HS) and the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) usually require a portable chest radiograph (PCR), as it is the most feasible study to monitor disease progression without mobilizing the patient. Objective: To evaluate the image quality in the PCR of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 in a Private Clinic in Callao. Material and methods: Observational, cross-sectional, retrospective and descriptive study, which included the evaluation of 94 PCR performed on patients with COVID-19 during June 2020 to June 2021. The image quality of the PCR was evaluated by fulfilling the image quality criteria (IQC). Results: The IQC were met in more than 60% of all PCR, except for the "absence of artifacts" criterion, which was only met in 24% (HS) and 21% (ICU) of the PCR. High image quality was observed in 42.55% of PCR, while 57.45% had low image quality due to the failure to meet at least one IQC. Conclusion: The image quality in the PCR of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 was low due to the limited fulfillment of the "Absence of artifact" criterion.
