Objective: To determine the factors related to non-compliance with the annual Pap smear of the cervix by women who attend the outpatient medicine office of the Hospital Nacional Loayza. Material and methods: Descriptive study of a series of cases, a sample of 400 women, non-probabilistic sampling by convenience, applying a questionnaire, during the months of February to April 2017. The descriptive analysis was carried out using frequencies and percentages and the inferential analysis determined the relationship between the variables applying the Chi square test and logistic regression. Results: The total frequency of non-compliance was 24.3%, and the frequency of non-compliance by variable studied was: absence of prior counseling (36.1%), primary education (32%), fear of the Pap test (21.6 %), single mother (18.6%), low average socio-economic level (9.3%) and inappropriate treatment (9.3%). Likewise, the factors related to non-compliance and with a significant statistical relationship through the statistical Chi squared were: lower middle socioeconomic level (p = 0.041), primary education (p = 0.002), inappropriate treatment (p = 0.001), lack of prior counseling (p = 0.001), fear of the exam (p <0.001), single mother (p <0.001). Logistic regression analysis confirmed that all factors are related to non-compliance; But the biggest related factor is fear of the exam. Conclusions: Women do not attend Pap smears due to: low socioeconomic status, primary education, inadequate treatment, lack of prior counseling, fear of the test, and single mother.
