Background: There are various factors associated with the self of oral health perception such as diet, which helps prevent various high-prevalence oral diseases such as dental caries and periodontitis. However, there is some controversy due to insufficient information on the subject. Objective: To determine the association between self oral health perception and diet in an adult population of patients treated at the Ermitaño Alto Health Center from May to August 2019. Material and methods: An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional and retrospective study was carried out in a probabilistic sample composed of 200 records. A questionnaire was applied to the participants with questions about self of oral health -perception and diet. The study variables were: self oral health perception regarding teeth and gums, consumption frequency of fresh fruit, cookies/cake, cake/pie, chewing gum with sugar, sweets/candies, lemonade/soda/soft drinks, tea with sugar and coffee with sugar, sex and age. A descriptive and bivariate analysis was performed with the Chi square test, for the multivariate analysis a multivariate logistic regression was applied to obtain the adjusted Prevalence Ratio (PR) and Prevalence Ratio (PRa). There was a significance level of 95% and a p <0.05. Results: It was found that self oral health perception had no statistically significant association with diet (p > 0.005). Conclusions: No association was found between self oral health perception and diet in patients treated at the Ermitaño Alto Health Center, Lima-Peru.
