In the present investigation, the state of mental health is analyzed from the perspective of emotional intelligence in Latin American children of primary education in times of pandemic. For this, a bibliographic review is carried out with documentary, descriptive and quantitative research. It was found that the use of different strategies to prevent covid-19 such as quarantine and virtual classes resulted in an emotional variation in students such as uncertainty, discomfort, anxiety, stress, overload, anguish and depressive symptoms. Likewise, they had an impact at the behavioral level suchs as an increase in tantrums, greater irritability and hyperactivity. Also, the importance of parents and/or caregivers as guides for their children is reflected, since they are the ones who will strengthen their resilience so that their adaptation process is with the least possible impact. Finally, the interventions and recommendations on the actions of public entities to reduce the psychological discomfort of students and their families are exposed.
