In Peru, one of the strategies to reduce contagion and prevent its health system from collapsing was quarantine, which generated variation in eating habits. Objectives: To determine the variation in the eating habits of fifth-year students of the health administration career of a private university before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Materials and methods: Quantitative, observational, comparative cross-sectional study in 85 students, through a virtual survey, which included two questionnaires: eating habits and consumption patterns, analyzed using Stata SE. Results: During the quarantine, it was collected that, regarding eating habits, there was an increase in the number of students who: skipped breakfast, ate "excess" food and took medication; Regarding consumption patterns, there was an increase in the number of students who consumed: fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, fried foods, and dairy products frequently during the week. Conclusions: The results indicate that the COVID 19 pandemic produced variations in eating habits and consumption patterns, which were mostly unhealthy. These variations represent a risk to the food health of students, since it increases the risk of affecting the immune system, suffering from chronic non-communicable diseases, aggravation in case of contagion of COVID-19 and with it an increase in hospital demand.
