The present research of documentary type is focused on reporting the latest findings on self- compassion in oncology patients during the year 2017 until the beginning of 2022. Cancer is a public health problem that generates a level of mortality and disability; generating marked physical changes, as well as an impact on the patient's mental health. Given this, it was considered to study self-pity in order to make known the effects that it could generate in the mental health of cancer patients. It is important to highlight that this construct is being studied by contemporary psychology; however, there are not enough national researches that address the subject in the mentioned population. Therefore, through this study, it is intended to review and analyze the contribution of self-compassion in the mental health of oncology patients. Also, the construct will be conceptualized, the instrument "Self-compassion Scale" will be analyzed in its two versions: complete and abbreviated. In turn, psychological interventions that use self-compassion will be analyzed, such as the Mindful Self- Compassion Program (MSC), Sense-Centered Therapy, Compassion-Centered Therapy, among others.
