This study aimed to determine the influence of the case study method (MEC) in the writing of the argumentative texts of the students of the Language and Communication II course of a private institution of higher education of Lima. At university level, the MEC has been used in the development of subjects related mainly to law and business careers. However, this research aims to show that it can also be very useful in writing courses. For this purpose, a quantitative approach with an explanatory scope was chosen. The design is experimental of a pre-experimental type with an already constituted group. The sample was examined before and after the intervention. There are significant differences between the application of the pretest and the posttest, both in the variable and in its dimensions. The conclusion was that, when applying the MEC, the improvements in the writing of an argumentative text were relevant. Therefore, it was determined that this method is useful for many reasons: the students better mastered the topic, the essays are solid and efficient, enhances the counterargument and stimulates and strengthens collaborative work.
