Introduction: it starts from recognizing the need to study the sociocultural aspects associated with eating disorders from infancy and preadolescence, as an important condition for the design of any interventional process. The existence of scattered information stands out, as it is mainly focused on other age periods. Objective: the objective is to identify the sociocultural factors associated with eating disorders during childhood and preadolescence, through a systematic review of scientific production on the subject. Methodology: the research is developed from a mixed paradigm, predominantly qualitative, following the methodology of the systematic review and relying on the use of the Endnote bibliographic manager and the ATLAS.ti data processing software. Results: Sociocultural factors associated with the appearance and maintenance of these disorders are identified, highlighting the Latin American reality and the particularities of Ecuador. The role of the media, peers and family is highlighted in the transmission of beauty models associated with thinness that accentuate body dissatisfaction and stimulate restrictive eating practices. Changes in food culture based on Western influence and the role of traditional gender constructions as determinants of unhealthy eating behaviors are analyzed.
