The objective of this research was to determine if the model of the relationship between psychological well-being, life satisfaction, social skills and gratitude with the job option presents a good fit in students at a public technological institute. The research was explanatory, quantitative, transversal, non-experimental design and uses the relationship of the observed variables as a strategy. The data was obtained from the psychological well-being, life satisfaction, social skills, gratitude, and employment option questionnaires for a total of 340 students, 36.8 % female and 63.2 % male, and the mean chronological age was 22.2. A significant correlation was obtained between the work option with gratitude (r = .36 = p < .001), the work option with social skills (r = .31 = p < .001), the work option with satisfaction with (r = .30 = p < .001) and the job option with psychological wellbeing (r = .16, p < .01). The initial model according to the evaluation procedure indicated an inadequate fit, 2 (4) = 22.2, CFI = .637, RMSEA = .250. The model is respecified and ²(3) = 5.92, CFI = .970, RMSEA = .054 were obtained, which indicates the fit of the model. It is concluded that the respecified model of the relationship between psychological well-being, life satisfaction, social skills and gratitude with the job option presents a good fit in students of a public technological institute. It is recommended to apply the structural equation model that considers some variables such as gender, age, and area of employment option.
