The histological description of testes of paiche, Arapaima gigas of 6, 12, and 18 months old was done, being a total of 13, 15, and 16 samples respectively. The histological slides, stained with H&E (Hematoxylin-Eosin), were analysed using an optical microscope with a built-in camera. The histological analysis performed consisted of direct observation of the parenchyma and stroma region of the samples. To do this, the histological sections were photographed with the objective lenses of lower (4X, 10X) and higher magnification (40X 100X). Likewise, the seminiferous tubules were counted using the pictures captured with lower magnification, which allowed have a general view of the complete samples. The histological findings of this study correspond to sexually immature specimens, especially in the 6-month-old samples where immature germ cells could be identified and there was no presence of defined seminiferous tubules. The formation of seminiferous tubules was identified from 12-month-old specimens, where 2/15 samples had seminiferous tubules with a lumen and 9/16 18-month-old samples had those histological structures. Apart from that, only one of the 12-month samples and seven of the 18-month samples have sperm.
