The objective of the study was to determine the relationship between knowledge of dengue disease and the presentation of confirmed cases in the Peruvian population in 2020. To do this, the results of the National Survey of Budget Programs were summarized using descriptive statistics and classified as the results according to the number of cases reported in the year 2020. The variables considered were the form of transmission, symptoms, preventive measures and attitude towards dengue, which were analyzed and presented through frequency tables. A higher percentage of knowledge of the form of transmission was found in the departments with the highest number of reported cases, which were Tumbes (92.2%), Ucayali (72.0%), Loreto (71.9%), Ica (71.9%), Madre de Dios (89.3%), San Martin (83.5%), Piura (81.4%) and Lambayeque (80.8%). Among the symptoms most recognized by the population studied is fever and headache, and chills. Fever being the most recognized symptom by the 3 groups. It was found that Madre de Dios was the department with the greatest knowledge of symptoms and preventive measures, however, it obtained a lower percentage of the population that would go to a health facility. The percentage of knowledge of preventive measures was higher in the departments with cases of dengue . It is concluded that it is necessary to strengthen preventive measures and knowledge regarding dengue in the inhabitants of areas vulnerable to epidemic outbreaks and evaluate the perception of risk in order to have a positive impact in these areas.
