Background: The stroke is one of the main problems of Public Health in Peru. However, there is a gap in updated information regarding quality of life (QoL) of post-stroke patients. Objective: Assess the QoL and its associated factors in 3 moments after a stroke. Methods and Materials: Observational analytic cohort study with exploration of associated factors and secondary data use. The SF-36 scale and Rankin modified scale were used to measure the dimensions of QoL and the functionality, respectively. Likewise, other potential associated sociodemographic and clinical factors were measured. Raw and adjusted mixed linear regression models were performed using Stata version 17. Results: 259 participants were included. They showed an improvement in physical function of 11.5 points at the 1 month and 21.7 points at the 6 months follow-up in the adjusted coefficients compared to the baseline measurement. Among the associated factors, for the dimension of physical function, unfavorable functionality decreases 27.4 points and the age over 65 is associated with a decrease of 9.08 points at 6 months post stroke compared to favorable functionality and younger age to 65 years, respectively. Conclusion: An improvement in the physical function dimension was found at 1 month and 6 months of follow-up. Likewise, and age older than 65 year and unfavorable functionality are related to a lower QoL score. Our findings could help expand the knowledge of tertiary prevention of stroke and subsequently implementation of public health strategies in this area.
