Improper management of hospital solid waste has become a vital issue worldwide, which is why Peru approved in 2012, the Sanitary Technical Standard No. 096 on management and management of solid waste in the area of health. Diresa-La Libertad made an sanitary audit at the Hospital in 2016.The audit report showed the biosecurity practice did not fulfilled properly. With that background we were interested in knowing the fulfillment of biosecurity conditions in the management of solid waste, in the Hospital of High Complexity "Virgen de la Puerta" Essalud-La Libertad, through a descriptive study. It was applied a check list (observation guide) based on Norma Técnica Sanitaria NTS Nº 096. Also, exploratory research about worker´s level of knowledge, was developed. A survey was applied to 559 hospital workers. About the degree of compliance, the results were that 50.2% of rooms were into good category (parameters compliance between (60% a 80%), and 47% compliance the regular (parameters compliance between 40% a 59%). The results on worker´s knowoldge showed that regular level calification were about 68.87% and bad level calification were about 27.55% was the highest frequency answer one. We can conclude that there are gaps in the biosegurity good practices compliance and in biosecurity good practices knowledge. Our research suggests that improvement action is required.
