Background: Work-related stress is prevalent among employees and is a problem due to its repercussions on workers' health and productivity. Although publications on the topic are scarce, web-based interventions offer efficacious solutions at a large scale. Interventions to reduce stress include cognitive-behavioral therapies, and within these, Problem Solving Therapy (PST). Objective: To evaluate the effect of the TSP offered through a web platform on the level of self-perceived stress of administrative workers. Material and methods: Two-arm parallel-group randomized controlled trial with an allocation ratio of 1: 1. Sixty-nine participants with symptoms of stress (Perceived Stress Scale> 27.43 and Job Stress Scale> 94.36) were recruited and randomly assigned to a stress-management intervention offered through a web platform, or to the control group exposed to a web platform with conventional contents to cope with stress. The intervention (named Allinkawsay or good living in Quechua) was based on the Lazarus transactional stress model, consisted of 4 sessions, and applied problem-solving. The primary outcome was the stress scale score. Results: The analysis revealed statistically significant differences between the intervention and the control group in the final evaluation. Conclusions: A Problem-Solving Therapy intervention via the web is not better than a conventional online stress management technique. However, Internet-based stress management interventions are still a valuable alternative over face-to-face interventions.
