Prevention is a main function of the Nurse, to reduce the levels of risks and complications in the patient. Diaper rash is a totally preventable complication if the proper measures are implemented. The main objective of this research was to determine the effectiveness of the Nursing Intervention Guide in the prevention of diaper dermatitis in patients from 1 to 12 months hospitalized in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Methodology: Methodology: It is a Pilot study of Pre-experimental design, of a single group with measurement before and after the application of the intervention guide. The population consisted of the nurses from the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (25) and the infants cared for during the study period (52). For data collection, a knowledge questionnaire and a checklist were used for the level of compliance with the Guide. The indicator “percentage of skin erythema due to the use of the diaper” manager in the service was monitored. Results: in the dimensions .Knowledge 100% of nurses Know how to prevent diaper dermatitis. Where the median of Knowledge before the training was 3 and after it was 4; statistically significant difference Compliance with care 80% complied with all activities, the median before the study was 8 and after 10. Finally, the cases of diaper dermatitis.0% are obtained after training, in the months of applying the care guide. Conclusions: The application of the Nursing Care Guide in the prevention of diaper dermatitis in patients aged 1 to 12 months, made it easier for nurse to provide safe care , preventing the presence of diaper dermatitis. managing to decrease the percentage of diaper dermatitis in the PED ICU, obtaining the standard expected by the MINSA (<1%).
