Background: Musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) are occupational health problems due to ergonomic factors that limit movement with a prevalence of 54% in the hands. Finding 62% of dentists with MSD in hand due to risk factors such as: repetitive movements, intense hand efforts and bad wrist postures. Objective: To determine the prevalence of hand musculoskeletal disorders of the hand in dental interns in Lima. Material and Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional observational study, which was carried out in 101 dental interns in the internship venues of three Lima universities, excluding inmates with neuropathies such as rheumatoid arthritis, type 2 diabetes, hypothyroidism, kidney failure and people who have had some trauma in the hand in the last 6 months. Data were collected through a questionnaire and the registration of 3 clinical tests: the Phallen test for the detection of carpal tunnel syndrome, the Filkenstein test for Quervain's disease, and the Tinel test for Guyon's canal syndrome. Results: It was determined that hand MSD in dental interns have a prevalence of 30.1% (95% CI: 20.6% - 41.8%), Quervain's disease being the most prevalent Musculoskeletal Disorder with 20.8% (95% CI: 12.9% - 31.9%) and according to sex, women have a higher prevalence of MSD with 37.5% while men have 26.5%. Conclusions: 30% of interns had at least one hand injury, Quervain's disease being the most prevalent MSD and women the ones with the highest prevalence of MSD.
