The present analysis has been made to an individual with type 1 obesity who was a candidate for a bariatric procedure, the psychological intervention aimed to evaluate and intervene in the psychological aspects associated with eating behaviors. For the diagnosis, the Zung depression scale, the Hamilton anxiety scale and the Quality of Life scale have been used. The intervention consists of 8 sessions that are needed to identify the emotions and thoughts in relation to the loss of eating control, the management and the psycho-emotional adaptation of the patient mentioned above, after the surgical procedure through the application of cognitive, emotional, behavioral and other approaches. The initial results show the absence of depression (31 points) and anxiety (07 points). However, based on the quality of life, the patient registers insecurity, vulnerability and is affected by the comments issued by society regarding her body image. After bariatric surgery, the depression scale maintains the score and the anxiety scale decreases in the somatic aspect (05 points). The quality of life, self-confidence, security and self-perception improves considerably due to the patient´s satisfaction with the results obtained. In conclusion, psychological support should be part of the multidisciplinary approach to the bariatric patient, largely determining the success of the treatment and the maintenance of healthy habits over time.
