The present research had as general objective to reduce the symptomatology of the depressive episode in a 13-year-old adolescent, due to negative thoughts related to academic failure and socio-emotional development. For the case study, resources such as a psychological interview with the mother and adolescent were used, as well as the use of psychological tests such as the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II) and the Reynolds Depression Scale for Adolescents (EDAR). From this, the results are obtained at a qualitative and quantitative level, which encouraged the creation of an intervention plan based on Beck's Cognitive Model, which consisted of fourteen sessions, which included various techniques such as "triple column”, “mood thermometer”, “list of pleasant activities”, “problem solving”, “4-7-8 breathing” and “progressive relaxation”, apart from that three follow-up sessions were held. The results of the intervention were in the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II) 13 points were obtained, which means absence of depressive symptomatology and in the Reynolds Adolescent Depression Scale (EDAR) 52 points were obtained, considering the ruling out depressive symptomatology; that is to say, that the intervention turned out to be efficient for the adolescent since she was able to learn how to manage irrational thoughts, obtain states of relaxation and get involved with people of the same contemporary age.
