Objective: To determine the basic conditioning factors associated with the lifestyle in young adults of a public university in the context of a pandemic, 2021. Material and method: A quantitative approach study was carried out, where the association between the variables studied was sought, and it was cross-sectional. The health-promoting lifestyle profile questionnaire (PEPS-I) of the theoretician Nola Pender was applied as an instrument, which was applied to a population of young adults from a public university, with prior informed consent. Chi square statistical analysis was used for the analysis using contingency tables. Results: 59% of young university adults have an unhealthy lifestyle and 41% have a healthy lifestyle, according to dimensions, 37% have unhealthy behaviors in nutrition, 91% have unhealthy behaviors in exercise, 90% have unhealthy behaviors healthy in health responsibility, 76% have unhealthy stress management behaviors, 51% have unhealthy interpersonal support behaviors and 30% have unhealthy self-actualization behaviors. With respect to the nutrition lifestyle dimension, a significant association was found with the sex variable, evidenced by the value of p = 0.006, and an association of p = 0.001 was found with the exercise dimension. Conclusions: The basic conditioning factor of the lifestyle is the sex variable, specifically in the lifestyles related to nutrition and exercise.
