The aimof the study was to determine the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of the confirmed cases of zika and dengue, presented during the Phenomenon of the Coastal Child, period January - June 2017 and that were treated in the health center of the Pueblo Nuevo district, province of Chincha, Ica - Peru. For this, an observational, descriptive and retrospective study was designed that systematized demographic information, clinical signs and time elapsed between the beginning of these and the investigation, notification and confirmation of cases. 130 cases confirmed positive to Zika and 44 to dengue were recovered. The greatest number of cases in both diseases was reported between epidemiological weeks 12 and 15, in women (76.9% in cases of Zika and 63.6% in dengue). The age groups in which the greatest number of cases was grouped were 20-24 years (16.8%) in the case of Zika and between 45-49 years (18.25%) in the case of dengue. The most frequent clinical signs in both cases were rash, rash, headache, myalgia, eye / retrocular pain and arthralgia / polyartralgia. The relationship between the temporal behavior of the cases and the interventions performed shows that the application of the nebulization had a greater effect, reducing the number of cases confirmed after the application. It is concluded that early recognition and notification of the presence of dengue and zika, as well as the use of nebulisations for vector control, have a direct impact on the number of new cases of these diseases in a non-endemic area.
