The construction of profiles for graduates of the careers offered by universities has gained special importance in the accreditation processes. In recent years, projects and manuals have been developed for the design of a graduate profile, however, little importance has been given to the participation of stakeholders such as current graduates, employers and society actors. The objective of the present study was to analyze the process of participatory construction of the graduate profile for the Biology program, and its evaluation in the processes of national and international accreditation of the career, in a private university in Peru. We investigated three categories: the organization of the university and the faculty that manages the career, and the participation of different actors in the construction of said profile, and evaluation of the graduate profile for the Biology program for national and international accreditation. This study uses a qualitative approach and the case study method. Information was collected from the review of institutional documents, self-evaluation reports, graduate profile proposals, among others generated by different instances of the university for a period of more than 10 years. Information from different actors was analyzed: university authorities, academics, employers, graduates, students, researchers and experts in science and technology. The results of the case study explores the different stages of the participatory construction of the graduate profile for the Biology program, as well as illustrates the partial existence of the necessary conditions to collect the contributions aimed at improving the profiles, in response to the disciplinary, social and labor demands. We conclude also that this an experience that needs to be further documented and analyzed, and it is desirable that it should be extended by other studies, with the 4 objective of contributing to the improvement of the design of graduate profiles for science careers and, perhaps, in other educational areas.
