Background: During the pandemic, the industries of the food sector cannot paralyze their production because they are of basic necessity. For this, protocols have been created trying to reduce the risk of transmission among workers, such as early reporting and testing. Although technology (apps) has been widely used to facilitate reporting, few have been formally evaluated. With Agro Industrial Paramonga, the Alerta Temprana (AT) app was developed and implemented for the self-reporting of COVID-19 symptoms. Objective: Evaluate the usability of the AT from the perspective of workers and personnel in charge of monitoring cases (monitors). Methods: Participants used the app for 3 months and usage metrics were collected. In the last month, the SUS usability questionnaire was applied to workers and monitors. Results: 253/467 (54.2%) workers evaluated the app. During the study, 26,947 self-reports were sent and the median interaction per user was 12 seconds. Workers and monitors rated the app in the highest category of "acceptable". In the 3 months prior to TA, 30,383 calls were required, equivalent to 5774 hours of work for monitoring. During the 3 months of AT use, only 1151 calls were required, equivalent to 204.8 hours. Conclusions: AT had good acceptability and improved the efficiency of the case follow-up work, reducing the number of calls and staff hours dedicated to monitoring.
