The diversity at developement stage of benthic polychaetes was studied in a bathymetric transect across the continental shelf off Callao (Peru, 12ºS), during summer to winter 2015. The goal was to determine the larval settlement and recruitment of this community, related to abiotic factors of waters and sediment (temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, porewater, hydrogen sulfide, total phytopigments, total organic matter and labile biopolymers). There were found 25 species from 15 families. The family Spionidae was the most diverse (06 species), followed by Pilargidae (03 species). Larvae of Magelonidae were numerically dominant in summer and autumn. Near-bottom, the larval supply was asociated the oxygenation regime asociated to bathymetry. The number of species of polychaete larvae decreased from shallow enviroments to the outer continental shelf. In addition, the total abundance of polychaete larvae and Magelona phyllisae larvae diminished with the increase of temperature and the deepening of the oxycline during the study period, associated with the impact of the 2015-16 El Niño event. On the other hand, it was found a larger number of species of juvenile and adult polychaetes in the shallower habitats, which were expose to more oxygenation but also to more reducing conditions in the sediments. Nevertheless, the recruitment success, as inferred as by the abundance of adults individuals on the ratio of the number of adults species to juvenile species, was greater in the oxygen-deficient outer shelf, which is explained by the contribution of Paraprionospio pinnata, the dominant species of the continental shelf sediments.
