Objective: To determinate the barriers to the implementation of the electronic vaccination card applied to children from 0 to |6 months of age. Material and methods: A qualitative approach study with phenomenological design where in-depth interviews were conducted with 20 nurses who fulfil a care and management role, who work in first-level establishments that have an Electronic Medical Record for at least 6 months, where the implementation barriers and satisfaction with the use of the system. Results: The barriers obtained were coded according to the implementation process, these being: i) Technical requirements, due to the lack of computer equipment, printers and low speed internet; ii) Training, since the theoretical classes present a methodology that does not favor learning, in addition to an online resource little used and iii) Use of the system and monitoring, where there are interoperability problems when serving foreign users, electronic reports do not represent manual records and there are delays in resolving problems reported to the DIRIS. Conclusions: Barriers and solution proposals have been identified in the process of implementing the electronic medical record, which may be useful to facilitate its replication at the national level.
