Child development is a critical period where the foundations of health, education and general well-being are built. However, not all boys and girls have the same opportunities since they are exposed to risks or barriers, jeopardizing their proper development. Therefore, this research aims to determine which are the factors of the Global Environmental Assessment Model associated with early childhood development in children between 4 and 26 months of age in Andean communities in the province of San Marcos, Cajamarca. At the same time, it seeks to determine which are the factors of the Global Environmental Assessment Model associated with each dimension that makes up the child (cognitive, communicative, motor and socio-emotional). For this purpose, 305 children were evaluated using the Child Development Scale (ESDI) and 317 mothers with the Socioeconomic Survey, both instruments developed and validated in the Peruvian context. The results showed that the most significant associations were with factors pertaining to individual, family and community environments. Within the individual environment, positive associations were found between a better score in ESDI with age (OR = 1.09, 95% CI, p = 0.000) and female sex (OR = 2.35, 95% CI, p = 0.002). While within the family environment there is a negative association between overcrowding and child development (OR = 0.56, 95% CI, p = 0.039). Within the community environment, a positive association was found with the factor related to a favorable perception of social programs and adequate child development (OR = 2.31, 95% CI, p = 0.022). The results for each dimension of Child Development indicate that for the cognitive area there was a positive association with the factor of the community environment related to a favorable perception of social programs (OR = 2.70, 95% CI, p = 0.007). While in the communicative area an association was found between the individual environment factor such as the child's age (OR = 1.12, 95% CI, p = 0.000) and with the family environment related to the mother's schooling when they have completed secondary school. (OR = 2.99, 95% CI, p = 0.045). In the motor area, a positive association was found in the subdimension of fine motor development and factors of the individual environment such as age (OR = 1.05, 95% CI, p = 0.020) and female sex (OR = 2.16, 95% CI , p = 0.002). In the gross motor and socio-emotional area, no significant associations were found with the factors belonging to any of the environments included in the analysis.
