Background: Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a psychiatric pathology that has related factors for its development, such as pre-trauma factors, including life events in childhood, which also include parenting styles and children. adverse events in childhood. The present study will seek to relate life events in childhood with PTSD. Objectives: To determine the relationship between life events in childhood and PTSD in the adult population of Metropolitan Lima. Materials and methods: A secondary analysis of the Epidemiological Study of Mental Health of Metropolitan Lima 2 012 was carried out, which used the instruments of the short and modified version of the Egna Minen av Bardoms Uppfostran (EMBU), questionnaire of early adverse events and Mini Interview Neuropsychiátrica Internacional (MINI), Spanish version. Results: Those who received a more permissive upbringing to do other activities that their siblings did not allow, presented a statistically significant relationship with PTSD (OR 1.70, 95% CI 1.09-2.65, p = 0.019), likewise having presented as a life event being the object or having suffered blackmail, manipulation or humiliation had a significant relationship with PTSD (OR 6.22, 95% CI 4.11-9.42, p<0.001). Conclusions: There is a relationship between some parenting styles together with some adverse events in childhood with PTSD in adults from metropolitan Lima.
