Background: Evidence-based practice (EBP) is the integration of the best research evidence with clinical experience and patients’ circumstances and values. Studies indicate that this scientific current improves the quality of patient care so it is important to know its reality in Peru in physical therapy professors who should teach it and provide the necessary tools for its implementation due to their role of professor. Objective: To describe the knowledge, attitudes and evidence-based practices of the physical therapy professors from a university in Peru. Material and methods: Observational, descriptive and transversal study. The instrument used was the questionnaire designed by Jette et al., modified and validated by Conislla et al. Results: 56 physical therapy professors were invited, 46 of them answered and returned the questionnaire. The majority was familiar with bibliographical search engines (82.7%). 95.7% reported interest in learning or improving their skills necessary to incorporate EBP into their daily work. In a typical month, 69.5% read from 5 to fewer articles and used the scientific literature for making decision 2-10 times in 69.6%. The most important barrier was insufficient time (56.5%). Conclusions: physical therapy professors reported knowledge in fundamentals of EBP and medical search systems. Besides, they expressed positive attitudes and recognized the need to increase the use of evidence in their routine practice.
