Objective: Determine the level of satisfaction of parents about nursing care in children attending the Emergency Service of the National Institute of Child Health – 2018.Methodology: The research is quantitative, descriptive, and cross-sectional, the sample consisted of 60 parents of children who were hospitalized in the emergency service and who voluntarily agreed to belong to the study, for which a CARE-Q instrument was used, created by Patricia Larson, conformed by 34 closed questions. The instrument was validated by emergency nurses from the National Institute of Child Health and other Institutions with a reliability of 92-98%. Inclusion criteria was taken to the parents of the children who were hospitalized in the observation rooms for 48 hours, who answered a questionnaire prior to a documented informed consent. Results: According to the survey, 50% of parents said they felt very satisfied with the care received by the nursing staff, also observing that 43.3% were satisfied and only 6.7% found little satisfaction with the care received. With respect to the sociodemographic characteristics of the surveyed, 81.6% are women, followed by 18.3% that belong to the male sex. According to the parents’ civil status, it is shown that 30% have single marital status, 23.3% are married, 43.3% are cohabitants and 3.3% are divorced. Regarding the occupation of parents, 60% (36) are housewives, followed by 33.3% (20) who are employed and finally found that 6.6% (4) are students. Conclusion: The parents of the children hospitalized in the Emergency Department of the NICH expressed superior satisfaction in relation to the nursing care, expressing their agreement with regard to any activity that the nurse performs in an organized, fast and timely manner, thus offering a health service effectively and efficiently.
