Background: The neurodevelopment represents the child's ability to perform in cognitive areas, motor skills, language and social adaptive skills. There are tests such as Mullen, Bayley, ABAS that evaluate neurodevelopment. Objective: Determine the association of socioeconomic and clinical factors with low neurodevelopment, measured by the ABAS test, in children with low birth weight (<2000g). Methods and Materials: This study is a secondary analysis of the data collected in the project "Lactoferrin for prevention of neonatal sepsis" (NEOLACTO), a randomized double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study in 414 premature infants with a birth weight <2000g. For the present study, the inclusion criterion considered children evaluated in NEOLACTO at 24 months, by corrected age, with ABAS. As exclusion criteria, those with cerebral palsy were considered. Results: 194 children were enrolled, of which 48.5.1% had a weight <1500gr at birth; 29.4% were born before 30 weeks of gestation; 33.9% have a family income of less than 900 soles. The general adaptive behavior had an average score of 79.4 ± 11.5 in children born at 30 weeks or less. At 12 months, 18 months and 24 months, the percentage of children with low scores was 8.6%, 22.9% and 29.5%, respectively. In the multivariate analysis is not associated with any variable with a low score for neurodevelopment. Conclusion: A low score for neurodevelopment is not associated with any variable evaluated in this study. The average general adaptive behavior decreases over time.
